Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Wednesday, October 1, 2008 Wallace Benjamin “Bill” Heinzen, 90, winter resident of Lake Havasu City, passed away Sept. 23, 2008, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, Minn. Bill was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Hubert and Margaret (Weber) Heinzen. On Oct. 25, 1941, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Hope Berggren. He worked as a Policeman for the City of Minneapolis. Bill was drafted into the United States Army. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to his job as a patrolman. In 1958, Bill moved his family to Moorhead, Minn., and then to the Park Rapids/Nevis area. In 1965 they moved to Duluth, Minn., where Bill worked in retail sales until his retirement in 1982. Bill and Betty retired near Park Rapids, Minn. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf and bowling. Above all, Bill devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his four daughters, Mary Schuda, of Minneapolis, Karen (Jim) Etterman, of Port Isabel, Texas, Barb (Ken) Bishman, of Lake Havasu City, and Patty (Bryan) Sorensen, of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; five sons, Mike (Doris) Heinzen, of Moorhead, Minn., John (Nancy) Heinzen, of Fargo, N.D., Jim (Darlene) Heinzen, of Duluth, Minn., Daniel Heinzen, of New Jersey and Dave (Barb) Heinzen, of Grand Rapids, Minn.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 1995; his daughter, Jane; his son, Mark; his parents; three sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Park Rapids, Minn.
