MCKAY, Charles Alan


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 14, p. 2 Charles Alan McKay, 59, of Aguila died August 8 in Wickenburg. Mr. McKay was born October 1, 1931 in Timmonsville, South Carolina. He had lived in Arizona for the past six years. Following his graduation from Timmonsville High School, Mr. McKay served as a decorated member of the U.S. Navy for six years, including service in the Korean War. He worked as an electronics technician before marrying Shirley Robbins of San Fernando, California. He and his wife, who survives him, raised a family of a son and three daughters and during that time they both obtained private pilot’s licenses which enabled them to enjoy years of air travel which they shared with family and friends. Over 18 years of night school, Mr. McKay obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at UCLA, and a Masters of Business Administration at Boston University, following his transfer to Massachusetts with the Foxboro Co. in 1968. He took early retirement from the company as an executive vice president in 1986, and he and his wife moved to an airport community in Aguila, realizing a long-term dream. Continuing his professional involvement following his retirement, Mr. McKay formed a consulting firm for engineering management; his goals of helping people and working towards change and improvement affected all who knew him and continued through his four-year battle with prostate cancer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a his son, Charles McKay, Jr.; three daughters, Sherrill McKay of Franklin, Mass., Sandra Clough of Longmont, Colo. and Sheila McKay of Woburn, Mass; his mother, Stella Mae Morrell of Florence, S.C.; two sisters, Hattie Marchall of Hartsville, S.C. and Judy Perkins of Florence, S.C., and five grandchildren. Services were Monday, August 12 at Community Alliance Church in Wickenburg. Pastor Robert Goldenberg officiated. Burial followed in the Aguila Cemetery.
