The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 21, 1991, p.3 Ernie M. “Pete” Lyall, 73 , of Prescott, died August 20 at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott. Mr. Lyall was born June 30, 1918 in Buckeye. He was a winter resident of Wickenburg, who moved from Tennessee to Prescott in 1987. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva, in 1986. He attended schools in Buckeye and Tolleson, and graduated from Tolleson High School. Mr. Lyall was a member of the Western Growers Assurance Trust, and a lifelong fruit and vegetable grower and worker. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army’s 16th Armored Engineers in central Europe. “Pete” Lyall was also a semi-pro baseball player, an outfielder and pitcher who would play for his employer’s teams and pick-up weekend games for small farm town teams. Survivors include a brother Arthur, of Downey, California; two sisters, Margaret Russell of Scottsdale, and Evelyn Ruby of Wickenburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Prescott. Rev. Tom Catlin will officiate, with military honors provided by American Legion Post. No. 40.
