The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ December 11, 1991, p. 2 Shirley Cooke, 73, of Wickenburg died December 4 in Wickenburg. Mrs. Cooke was born March 17, 1918 in Keen, New Hampshire. She had lived in Arizona for the past 54 years. She moved to Mesa in 1937 from New Hampshire, and later moved to Wickenburg. She worked at the old Wickenburg Hospital as a trained nurse, which was just being established at that time. She worked for the late Dr. Floyd Bralliar more than 50 years ago. She married Harry Cooke, who preceded her in death in 1983. In 1972 Mrs. Cooke began attending the Potter’s Housechurch in Wickenburg and became a born-again Christian. She worked faithfully in her church until her death, visiting the sick and calling on the lonely up to the eve of her passing. Survivors include a son, Dean Cooke of Vienna, Virginia; two daughters, Patty Doom of Wickenburg and Barbara Charles of Tempe; two sisters, Marion Chiara of Tucson and Red Johnson of Rangeley, Maine; two sons, Don Smith of New Hampshire and Walt Smith of Vermont; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were Saturday, December 7 at the Potter’s House church. Pastor Dave Robinson officiated, with burial following in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
