Prayer services for Jose C. Duran, 74, a former restaurant and hotel owner and operator during his 54 years in Phoenix, will be held at 8 p.m. today in A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams. Services will be tomorrow in First Mexican Baptist Church, 16th Avenue and Monroe, where he was a former deacon. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Duran, of 707 E. Jefferson, had operated his business at this address from 1932 to 1962. Born in Chihuahua, Casas Grandes, Mexico, he died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1968, in Doctors Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Elvia; four sons, Raymond and Robert Duran, both of Phoenix, Antonio Duran of Washington and Oscar Silvas of Richmond, Calif.; three daughters, Josephine Duran of Washington, Mrs. Mary Castaneda of Canoga Park, Calif., and Mrs. Hortencia Juarez of Phoenix; two sisters living out of state; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
