WOOD, James S.


Mesa -- James S. Wood, 83, a retired mail carrier, who came here six years ago from Holbrook, died Oct. 14, 1968, in his home, 2415 E. Apache Blvd. Mr. Wood was born in Boles, Kentucky, and came to Holbrook 51 years ago. He was a member of the Mesa Alma Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his early career he had been a farmer and trucker. Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald. Friends may call there from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mesa Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Johnson Wood; six sons, Milton S. of Long Beach, James S., Robert R., and Dennie L., all of Santa Cruz, Calif., John T. of Phoenix and Tim G. with the Army in Flint, Michigan; three daughters, Mrs. Norma Young of Phoenix, Mrs. Mary Callegos of Payson and Mrs. Lavon Knibbs of Kalamazoo, Mich. The Arizona Republic Tuesday, October 15, 1968.
