Robert E., Sr.
Ajo -- Robert E. Kelley Sr., 76, a retired craneman for the Phelps Dodge Corp., died yesterday, Oct. 10, 1968, in Tempe Community Hospital.
Mr. Kelley, of 801 Ocotillo, retired from the mining company in 1957 after working here 30 years. He was secretary of the Ajo Moose Lodge 30 years and held the pilgrim degree, the highest order of the Moose, was a past grand master of the Odd Fellows Lodge, a member of Masonic Lodge 36 and Ajo Federated Church. Born in Uvaldo, Texas, he came to Ajo 41 years ago.
Services will be tomorrow in the Ajo Federated Church. Cremation will follow. Messinger Mortuary in Scottsdale announced.
Survivors include his wife, Montie; four sons, Albert J. and WIlliam J., both of Scottsdale, Robert Jr. of Yuma and K. D. of Ajo. Daughters, Roberta R. Halel, Tucson, Barbara G. Dyer, Kearney, Hallie Jane Slater, Baldwin Park, California; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
Services Saturday Ajo Federated Church, Rev. Donald Springer officiating. Cremation arranged by Messinger Mortuary, Scottsdale. Family suggests donations to Moose Lodge, Ajo.
