He was a member of the Wickenburg Hassayampa Citizens Band Radio Club along with his wife, Vera. Many truckers who travel throughout area will miss the friendly voice of “Windy” on their radios. D. “Windy” Hallman, 71, of Congress, died June 4 at Fort Whipple Veterans Hospital in Prescott. Military graveside services were conducted in his honor Friday at 3 p.m. at the Genung Memorial Cemetery in Peeples Valley. Hallman was born in Boswell, Okla., on Sept 24, 1913 and had moved to Congress 49 years ago from Oklahoma. A retired heavy equipment mechanic, he was a World War II veteran serving with the U.S. Navy and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Vera, of Congress; a son, Billy, of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made through Memory Chapel Mortuary in Prescott.
