SERNA, JR., Rudolfo (Rudy)


The Copper Basin News Hayden, Az. - 07/21/2010 Rudolfo “Rudy” Serna Jr. passed away in Tempe on Friday, July 16, 2010. He was born in Mexicali, Sonora, Mexico on September 18, 1950, and had moved into Hayden by 1976, where he met his wife, and the married her in April of 1977. For well over 29 years, Mr. Serna worked for the town, driving truck and filling various positions in Hayden. Enjoying fishing in the river, watching boxing as well as baseball, he also liked seeing his grandchildren play ball for school and during the summertime. His favorite time was traveling to California, in order to spend welcome time with his younger daughter and her children. The family surviving are his wife, Stella; his son, Alex Noriega of Hayden, and his daughter, Monic Aguirre of Lynnwood, California. There are nine grandchildren: Vanessa, Desiree, and Julio Noriega of Kearny; Rachel, Stephanie, Michelle, and Joshua Lara; Anthony and Bryan Pacheco of Lynnwood, California. Rudolfo Serna Sr., his father, is living, as well as one brother, Rigoberto, and three sisters, Teresa, Rosa and Francisca. Those preceding Rudy in passing are his mother, Rosario P. Valdez and two brothers, Filiberto and Aldo Serna. St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hayden hosts the Friday, July 23, services. The visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. with the Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m., and the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Dale Branson at 11 a.m. Interment will subsequently be in Mt. View Cemetery. Griffith Mortuary handled arrangements for the family.
