Edna Marie Jorgenson, 78, passed away on June 20, 2010, of lung cancer at her home in Lake Havasu City. Edna was born to Oscar Fredrick Jorgenson and Rose Marie (Heller) Jorgenson Dec. 21, 1931, in Maynard, Iowa.
Edna was raised on a farm near West Gate, Iowa, and moved to California where she worked at Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, Calif., for 20 years. One of Edna’s dreams was to own and run a bar that she did with her long time friend, Ethel Singer. The Elgin Tap in Elgin, Iowa was their home for 11 years. They decided it was time to move to warmer weather and moved to Camp Verde, where she ran a food-catering trailer on the weekends. Edna made Lake Havasu City her final home for the past 12 years. Although Edna never married or had children, we all thought of her as our second mom and great sister and friend. Edna always liked to take care of everyone and made sure we were all happy.
Edna is survived by her sister, Elna (Casey) Campbell and her husband George Campbell of Lake Havasu City; brother, Clarence and wife Marilyn Jorgenson of West Union, Iowa; her sister, Doris and husband, Gordon Kleppe of West Union, Iowa; nieces, Debra Campbell Porte and Teri Campbell of Lake Havasu City; great-nephew, Austin James McMinn of Roswell, Ga.; nephew, Denis Spude of Sedona; nephew, Roger Spude and wife Jennifer Spude of Prescott; and leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Frederick Jorgenson and Rose Marie Heller Jorgenson; brother, Edwin Jorgenson; and sister, Adeline Jorgenson; a nephew, Kevin Kleppe; and niece, Carrie Rose Marie Kleppe Hauer.
Edna wanted her family and all that knew her to celebrate her life by having a party with lots of Mexican food and music; her favorite, cheese enchilada’s, rice, and beans. This was her last wish and let’s all remember her, as she would want us to.
A great soul serves everyone all the time.
A great soul never dies.
In brings us together again and again.
