Robert J. Smith, 53, of Fannettsburg, Pa. died Nov. 13 at Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania following a long illness. He was born April 5, 1932 in Chanbersburg, Pa. and was later a Wickenburg resident.
He was the son of George W. and Cora Smith, of Fannettsburg. Smith and his wife, Dale owned and operated the Mecca Motel and Indian Jewelry Store in Wickenburg from 1971 to 1980.
Smith was a United States Armed Forces Veteran; was a member of Mt. Green United Methodist Church, in Willowhill, Pa.; was a member of the American Legion Post No. 606; Veteran’s of Foreign War Post No. 1599; the Fannettsburg Rotarian Club; the Wildlife Foundation of Fannettsburg; the Men of the Mountain, Ft. Loudon, Pa. and the Path Valley Stag Club.
In addition to his wife and parents, other survivors include three daughter; Renee Smith, of Fannettsburg, Sherry Smith, of Fayetteville, Pa. and Cathi Smith of Wickenburg; two son, Terry Smith of Fayetteville and John Zeigler, of Wickenburg; three sister, Patricia Jones, of Chambersburg, Pa., Shirley Jones of Ft. Loudon and Judy Clayton, of Spring Run, Pa., several aunts and uncles; six nephews and one niece.
Services were Nov. 16, at the John Agett funeral Home, in Dry run, Pa. Interment was in the Reformed Cemetery, Fannettsburg. Contribution in the memory of Smith may be made to the Mt. Green United Methodist Church, in care of the Rev. Thomas Osenback, Spring Run, Pa. 17262.
