FRICK, Henry Clay


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ March 20, 1986, p. 13 Henry Clay Frick, 76, a retired Wickenburg merchant, died March 12 at Benson Community Hospital of a heart attack. He was born in Odehuet, Iowa in 1909, but was an Arizona resident most of his live. He was a well-known resident of Wickenburg for 31 years where he and his late wife, Mary, owned and operated Frick’s Indian Store. Frick was well-known for his story telling and friendly personality in both Wickenburg and Benton, where he had been a resident for the last four years. He was a graduate of Arizona State University in Tempe, World War II Navy veteran and past president and 31-year member of the Desert Caballeros men’s trail riding organization base out of Wickenburg. He served on the Wickenburg Town Council, was a member of the Wickenburg Saddle Club, Rotary Club, Wickenburg County Club and the Los Caballeros Gold Club. Survivors include his wife, Sue; a daughter, Susi Phelps, of Tempe; one son, Mark, of Washington, D.C.; sister, Josephine Jacobson, of Prescott; sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson, of Wickenburg and six grandchildren, Steven, Michael and Angela Frick and Todd, Tracy Diane and Travis Phelps. A rosary and mass was conducted in Benson at Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church. Interment was in the Wickenburg Cemetery next to his late wife, Mary, also longtime resident of Wickenburg who died in 1981. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Benson Library or the cancer Society.
