Robert Erie Hickson, of Lake Havasu City, passed away at his home May 29, 2010. He was born April 9, 1923, in Long Beach, Calif. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II, Bob returned to Long Beach, became a journeyman plumber, and later began his own business as a plumbing contractor.
He and his wife of 43 years, Leorah (Carrier), built a home in Sebastopol, Calif., in 1980, where they shared their love of art and gardening. Following Leorah’s death in 1984, Bob remarried, and with his wife, Maggie, made their home in Lake Havasu City in 2002, where Bob continued to enjoy art, especially that by his artist son Robert, and grandsons Wiley and Clay Hickson.
After building his Lake Havasu City home at the age of 80 years, Bob loved golf, fishing and spending time with his many friends and family.
Bob was preceded in death by wife, Leorah; father, Erie Walton Hickson; mother, Irene; and sister, Barbara (McGowan). He is survived by wife, Maggie; son, Bob Lee Hickson (Marianne Hirsch), of Sebastopol, Calif.; grandsons, Wiley R. Hickson, Portland, Ore., and Clay L. Hickson, Chicago, Ill.; sister, Mary Bock Kaiser, San Diego, Calif.; stepson, Roger E. Jackson, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and many sisters and brothers-in-law.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, his ashes will be released at a small family gathering in Sonoma County, Calif. at a later date.
