The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/23/2010 Pansy Lorene Garcia, 86, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the Winslow Campus of Care in Winslow. She was born May 3, 1924, in Cooper, Osage County, Okla. to the late Ira Walter and Lora May (Guffey) Smith. She has lived in Arizona the past six years. Pansy truly was a woman who was loved by everyone she met. During WWII, she helped with the war effort by working at an aircraft factory. Later, she worked as a nurse's assistant for many years. She truly was a Christian woman, in every sense of the word, in that she spent her life in the service of her fellow man. This sweet lady will be missed by many but, especially by her family. Pansy is survived by her four children Marvin (Karen) McLemore, Paula (Don) Holmes, Mark (Lorraine) Garcia, Felix Garcia, Jr., three brothers Bud (Donna) Smith, Bobbie (Shirley) Smith, Dudley (Sandi) Cobble; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Garcia Sr.; two sisters: Vondeen Isbell and Dokie Henley. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Holbrook Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1127 Helen Avenue in Holbrook, where the visitation will begin one-hour prior. Concluding services and the interment will be Friday in Albuquerque, N.M. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
