Jay Ballard Coombs, 85, of Gilbert died July 26, 2010. He was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Richfield, Colo. to Edward Burton Coombs and Deycie Belle Hutchins. He served in the Mesa Arizona Temple for 16 years. 
     
He is survived by sons Steven (Renee), Craig (Jeri) and Scott (Marilyn); daughters Fay (Richard) Wheeler and Shannon Thomas; sisters Fay Langston, Elsie Pankratz and Ruth Guthrie; brother Lyle (Louise) Coombs; 28 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren; 25 great great-grandchildren. 
     
A visitation was held Thursday, July 29, at Bunker's Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at the LDS Gilbert 9th Ward Chapel, 1150 E. Guadalupe in Gilbert.
