The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/05/2007 Fannie Odell Smiddy, 79, passed to her reward and rest in the Lord Dec.29, 2006 at RTA Hospice in Lakeside. Fannie was born in Cookeville, Tenn. Feb. 27, 1927 to Eddie and Pearlie Jane Hood. She had lived in the White Mountains for 38 years. Mrs. Smiddy cooked for the children and staff of the Show Low Head Start for many years. She loved the children, staff, friends and parents she grew to know and become close to over the years at Head Start. Fannie loved her family dearly and her church family too. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, cooking and being with people. She was always thinking of others and ways that she could make their life happy. Fannie is survived by her husband, Virgil P.Smiddy; her children David (Joyce) of Tennessee, Pownie (Anthony) of N.M., Ramona of Calif., Mary (Dean), Pauline (Stephen), Jason (Christy) all of Arizona. She had 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Anyone wishing to may donate to RTA Hospice of Lakeside, 1789 W. Commerce Drive, Lakeside AZ 85929 in honor of Fannie Odell Smiddy. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Living Church in Lakeside. A reception will follow at the church. All who wish to remember Fannie are invited to attend.
