Former guest ranch owner died in local nursing home
Retired Wickenburg businessman Carl M. Beillen died at the age of 80
in Wickenburg Nursing Home July 5 ending his longtime battle with
cancer.
Beillen owned and operated the Monte Vista Guest Ranch in Wickenburg
and for many years was active in real estate in this area.
His community service included acting as master of ceremonies for
Wickenburg Saddle Club events at the Ray Bybee Arena and Wickenburg
Gold Rush Days Parade.
As secretary/treasurer of the Wickenburg Rural Fire Department for 21
years, Beillen has been an active community leader for 36 years he
lived in Arizona.
He was born in Chicago April 10, 1906 and served Gen. George Patton’s
Fifth Army in the 95th Division Infantry 1942-45. During the World War
II service he did a three-year four of the European Theater.
Beillen is a past el’ presidente for Desert Caballeros men’s trail
riding organization in 1966 and 1967. The Desert Caballeros nicknamed
him “feisty” and presented him their 25-year pin for his membership.
He rode their annual five-day trail ride as a member of the
consecutive years 1950 through 1971.
Beillen was also the last living charter member of the Wickenburg
Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, who is also in Wickenburg Nursing
Home and one son, Jordan Browning, of California.
Memorial services will be conducted at the Wickenburg Funeral Home
Chapel Thursday at 7 p.m. and Stan Watson will represent the
Wickenburg Volunteer Fire Department as speaker.
A private cremation has been arranged and per Beillen’s wishes, his
ashes will be scattered during the Desert Caballeros’ 44th annual
five-day ride next year.
