Beloved mother Ruth Garfield Gordon, 78, died Dec. 29, 2006 at home.
She was born June 18, 1928 to N.E. Garfield and Celestia Ann Smith. Ruth was the eldest daughter of eight children and grew up on the family farm in Draper, Utah. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1946 and married Arval Gordon the same year in the Salt Lake Temple; later divorced. Ruth worked many years at EIMCO in bookkeeping and payroll. After retiring from her first career, she held several jobs to keep in touch socially.
Mom loved her family and friends. She stayed busy and kept up an incredible social schedule. She was an avid gardener, reader, golfer, and quilter. She was an admitted fabric-aholic, who made quilts for all occasions. She completed over 100 quilts for family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Terri), Chris (Gary), Sam (Sharlia), Linda, Les (Kathy), Patricia (Laurence), Dan (Angie); 27 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Earl (Vauna), N.E., Jr. (Alexis); and sisters, Anne (Justin) Covington, Mary (Harold) Daw, Beth (Lloyd) Sutcliffe, Joan Garfield; and countless nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three grandsons.
Services were held Jan. 4 at Mount Jordan Stake Center, 6th Ward, 9331 So. 300 E., Sandy, Utah.
Friends and family may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. A viewing was held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale, Utah, Wednesday, Jan. 3. Interment at Draper, Utah Cemetery following the service.
