Jose Dario Castro left this earth to enjoy eternal life with his heavenly father Jan. 7, 2007 at RTA Hospice of the White Mountains.
Dario was born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, the youngest of nine children, and spent most of his life in New Mexico and Arizona. Dario worked as a painter/decorator and retired from ASU in Dec. of 1997 after 23 years. He was an avid reader who especially enjoyed increasing his knowledge of United States history. During his leisure time he also enjoyed watching all sports and seldom missed an opportunity to play tennis.
Survivors include his beloved spouse, Betty; his daughter, Renee Sweeden; grandson, Seth; sister, Maria Castro (the last surviving sibling); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Jerry Alexander; and many dear nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rita's in Show Low at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at Valley of the Sun Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights in Chandler. Family and friends are welcome and a reception will follow.
Remembrances may be made to Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale or RTA Hospice of the White Mountains.
