Roy Edwin Warner, 76, of Wickenburg, previously of Yarnell, died July 16 at Wickenburg Community Hospital. He was born Dec. 26, 1909, in Williamston, Mich.
Warner was a decendent of Andrew Warner, who came from England with the Printon Thomas Hooker, in 1932 and was a decendent from William Marshal, a figure who played a big role in the forming and accomplishment of the Magna Carta.
Warner grew up as a farmer in Michigan and graduated valedictorian from Williamston High School in the 1920s, with highest honors.
He worked in the U. S. Customs Service in Detroit, Mich. and Port Huron, Mich., also as a substitute mail carrier and operated the family’s country grocery store in Michigan. He lived in Arizona for 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Warner, of Wickenburg; three daughters, Maxine Nowlin, of Mason, Mich., Donna Shushtari, of Lansing, Mich. and Anita Fink, of Pasadena, Calif.; one son, Robert Warner, of Lake Odessa, Mich.; one brother, Fred Warner, of Michigan; one sister, Irma Pollok, of Florida; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many cousin.
Memorial services were July 18 at the Alliance Church in Wickenburg with Pastor Robert Goldenberg officiating.
Arrangements were made through the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
