BARNETTE, Josephus Wayland


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ August 7, 1986, p. 14 Josephus Wayland Barnette, 86, of Sun City, died July 30 in Boswell Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1899, in Miami (Arizona). Barnette was raised in the area of Arizona called “Territory of Arizona,” which is now known as Miami and Globe. He moved to Wickenburg as a young man where his family operated Barnette Dairy, which was located where Coffinger Park is now. Barnette graduated from the University of Arizona at Tucson, in 1927, then moved to California and was married. There he raised his family and in 1972, moved to the Sun City area. He lived in Arizona for 41 years. Barnette is survived by his wife, Clarabelle; one son, Kirk Barnette, of Hardin, Mont.; one daughter, Donna Sarale, of Pleasanton, Calif.; seven grandchildren and two sisters, Ethel Johnson of Show Low and Alice Whadford of Colorado. Services were at the Wickenburg Funeral Home on Aug. 4 with Dr. Bert Follmar officiating. Arrangements were made by the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
