Marcella Andrea Ocampo, 79m a retired Wickenburg Postal Clerk died Aug. 15 at Valley View Community Hospital in Youngtown.
Ocampo was born in Wickenburg April 27, 1907.
She was the daughter of Wickenburg pioneer settlers, Teodore and Mariana Ocampo and great-granddaughter of Wickenburg settlers Ramon C. and Andrea Valencia.
She attended Wickenburg schools and was a member of the first Wickenburg High School graduating class of 1918.
She was an employee of the U. S. Postal Service until she retired in 1967. She was a lifelong active member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Wickenburg. Her family ties with the church date back to about 1900, when her father was among a group of Wickenburg settlers who founded the town’s first Catholic church.
She was involved with many civil affairs and an active member of the Wickenburg Camera Club, a charter member of the Business Professional Women’s Club and was also one of the first volunteers of the Wickenburg Senior Citizen Club.
She is survived by one sister, Eva Ocampo Ortega and four generations of nieces and nephews.
Rosary was 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Interment at the Garcia Cemetery followed. Requiem mass was hosted at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church on Monday at 8 a.m.
