Mackey, 73, a retired manager for the Yarnell Water Company, died at St. Luke's Medical Center, Phoenix, after hip surgery on Aug. 18. He was born in Blencoe, Iowa, Dec. 18, 1912. Survivors include his wife, Alice Johnson MacKay; two sons, Charles and Richard; three grandsons, Scott, Corey and Kevin, one granddaughter, Kelsey Joy; sisters, Nora Cooper, of Long Beach, Calif., and Pauline Carroll, of Van Nuys, Calif., and many relative and friends. Mackey was a veteran of World War II, served as a machinist mate first class with the 62nd CB Battalion during the invasion of Iwo Jima. He worked for Neilson Brothers Drainage Contractors for many years before moving to Arizona in 1960. He was active member of the Yarnell Community Church and will be greatly missed. Services were Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Yarnell Church. Presbyterian Pastor Sam Weinschenk officiated. Interment was at Genung Cemetery in Peeples Valley. Lundberg's White Rose Chapel of Glendale made the arrangements.
