CHAMPLIN, Walter B.


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 13, 1986, p. 17 Walter B. Champlin, 88, of Wickenburg, died Nov. 3 in Sun City. He was born Dec. 14, 1897 in Danville, Ill. Champlin was a retired tool and dye maker at Lockheed Aircraft in California. He served in the 16th Engineers during World War I as a machinist for the U. S. Army. He was involved in three battles during his tour and sustained no injuries. Champlin was active with the American Legion in Wickenburg and the Veteran’s of Foreign War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, in 1977. They were married for 52 years. Champlin lived in Arizona for 39 years. He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Carroll, of Wickenburg; one son, Bruce Champlin, of Wickenburg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services were in the Veteran’s Administration Chapel in Phoenix on Nov. 6. There was a private cremation and services were officiated by Chaplin David Boxrud. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were made by the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
