The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 20, 1986, p. 13 Elmer A. Cavaness Sr., 87, of Wickenburg, died Nov 10 in the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, in Phoenix. He was born Nov. 16, 1898, in Florence. He has lived in Wickenburg the past 33 years. Caveness was a member of Wickenburg American legion, Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Cavaness’ grandfather was the first white child born in Phoenix. Cavaness Street in Wickenburg was named after his family. He is survived by one son, Elmer A. Cavaness Jr. two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were Nov. 14 at the Wickenburg Cemetery, Pastor Bert Metcalf officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Wickenburg Community Hospital. Arrangements were made by the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
