The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/12/2007 Evelyn Alice (Sanders) Nelson died Jan. 7, 2007. Evelyn was born, June 21, 1931 to Raymond Edward and Ruby Sanders at Wilgus Turkey Creek. She married her sweetheart, George Albert Nelson, June 19, 1949 at the Sanders family ranch in Turkey Creek, in the Chiricahau Mountain. She was blessed with seven children, Doris (Jim) Huff, Vernal, Utah; Debra (Mike) Hill, Eagar; Dorothy (Bobby) Williams, El Paso, Texas; Doug (Lisa) Nelson, Peoria; Darlene (Arlin) Waters, Eagar; and Danell (Keith) Culp, Hereford, Texas. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Evelyn served the Lord in many callings: Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women's. She loved doing genealogy and spent many hours researching her family history. She was a very loving and compassionate person, always rendering service to others. She will be missed by many. Evelyn is survived by her sweet husband of 57 years, six children, 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers Bill, Russell, and Ray and her sister Joann. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; son, David; and grandson Joel Nelson. The family would like to acknowledge Hospice for all the many hours and love they have given our family at this time of need. A viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, 535 N. Main in Eagar. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Stake Center, 135 Main St., Eagar. Interment will follow at the Eagar Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary handled arrangements.
