CHARITON, Leslie (Les) Clark


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Wednesday, August 4, 2010 Leslie "Les" Clark Chariton, 60, formerly of Flagstaff, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Mr. Chariton was born June 12, 1950, in Coeur d'Alene to Cecil and Laverne Chariton. He grew up swimming in the lakes, fishing, hunting, mushrooming and huckleberry picking in the forests of Idaho. A graduate of Coeur d'Alene High School, he also attended NIC and University of Idaho. He loyally served his country in the U.S. Army for two years as a young man and in 1983 served as the president of the Idaho State Homebuilders Association. An Eagle Scout and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for more than 30 years, he served faithfully in many church callings and continued to be an avid scouter leading the young men in his church. On May 19, 1979, in Twin Falls, Idaho, he married Brooke Haney. They resided in Twin Falls, Phoenix and Flagstaff, and for the last five years, they lived in Coeur d'Alene, where Mr. Chariton was most recently employed by Edwards Smith Construction. A hardworking man of great integrity, he was an incredible builder, but his greatest accomplishments in this life were his loving marriage and sweet friendship with his wife and the joy he experienced in the roles of father and grandfather. Mr. Chariton is survived by his brother, Larry (Syl) Chariton; sister Kathy (Steve) Bostwick; wife Brooke Chariton; children Shane Chariton, Sunni Chariton, Gabe (Amy) Chariton, Nick (Jessica) Chariton, Jessica (Josh) Lewis and Arianne (Brad) Onstot; and nine grandchildren. Viewings will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the LDS church 2293 W. Hanley, in Coeur D'Alene, where the funeral service also will be Friday at 11 a.m. Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
