Richard "Dick" N. De Luca, 78, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Flagstaff, suddenly and unexpectedly. He was in town visiting friends and family.
Mr. De Luca was born Sept. 3, 1931, in Reading, Pa., to Nicola and Grace De Luca. He came to Arizona in the 1950s while being stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Yuma. He lived in Flagstaff from 1979 to 2001. He moved back to Yuma in 2001 with his wife of 57 years, Eloisa De Luca.
Mr. De Luca will be remembered for his big, generous heart, always helping others, his love of music, singing Frank Sinatra songs (Granny's Closet), cooking all the Sicilian dishes and having big get-togethers at his house. He had a great love for his family and friends. He always had a big smile on his face and was a happy and excitable person. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he loved assisting others to learn about the Bible, and he assisted in developing another English and Spanish congregation here in Flagstaff.
Mr. De Luca is survived by his loving wife, Eloisa; sons Rick (Linda) and Nick (Mary Ann) De Luca; daughter Victoria (Mark) Jones; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Ronald (Lois), Tony (Irma) and Nate (Donna) De Luca; and sister Tilly Hummel.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Josephine "Josie" Baltz, Mary Ann Spangler and Benjamin "Benny" De Luca.
