BRIGGS, Warren Everett


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/19/2007 Warren E. Briggs, age 81, died Jan. 15, 2007 at his home in Snowflake. He was born Aug. 23, 1925 in Trowbridge, Calif. He joined the Navy when he was 16 years old and was stationed in Hawaii the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. He never did get completely over that time of his life. He was discharged in 1945 and joined the Navy Reserve for a time. Warren worked in the trucking industry as a driver, dispatcher, and terminal manager before retiring August 31, 1986. When he retired he enjoyed playing golf and traveling. After divorcing his first wife he married Beulah Weaver and they were married 32 years before she passed away in 1993. He later married his neighbor, Diane, who was a widow, Jan. 10, 1994. They did a lot of traveling before his health got bad and they returned to Surprise. They continued to make trips to Snowflake until they decided to make it their new home. Warren joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sept. 17, 2001 and a year later Sept. 18, 2002 he and Diane were sealed in the Temple. Warren is survived by his wife, Diane; two daughters, Dreana and Loretta; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren in Val Paraso, Indiana; nephew, Larry in California; also three step-children, Susan Wilder, Carla Berg and Tom Kiester; and seven step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren in Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Temple View Chapel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Owens Mortuary of Snowflake handled arrangements.
