Robert Lawrence Ulibarri, 63, went home to be with the Lord January 21, 2007.
He was born Dec. 13, 1943 to Virginia and Manual Ulibarri in Polvadera, N.M. He remained there and moved years later to Arizona start a family. He was married for several years. He was employed by several odd n'in jobs including teaching self defense, while holding a black belt in Karate. He stated that he also was a chauffeur for Burt Lancaster back in the "Hollywood Days."
He returned to the White Mountains in 1991. Most days you could find him woodcarving, fishing or assisting others with their daily duties. He was active in church, attending St. Peter's Catholic Church in Springerville.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia; six brothers, George (MaryLou), Pete (Mary), Leroy, Joe (Roz), Jerry, Manual "Junior"; five sisters, Nellie, Josie, Nancy, Jane, Doris; two sons, Daniel and David; two daughters, Brenda (James) and Luz; several nieces, nephews and a few grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Manual; brother, Albert and sister, Corina.
A mass will be held in offering of him at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Springerville, Sunday, Jan. 28 at 9 a.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude for all the support during this time. Much appreciation for assistance to John Dublein, Ed and Donna Stephens, Charlie Rant and other friends from Villa Escadilla Apartments. His services were provided by Owens Mortuary in coordination with Science Care and Research.
