Norbert A. Marcinek passed away on July 20, 2010, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz. He was born April 18, 1935, in East Chicago, Ind., the son of Peter and Charlotte (Bobowski) Marcinek. He was 75 years old.
Norbert served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a steel worker out of Inland Steel in Indiana, and was an honorary lifetime member of the Communication Workers of America, as well as serving as president of the CWA Pioneer Club for a brief time. Along with being a Cardinals season ticket holder, he loved gardening, cooking and woodworking. Norbert was known for his incredible sense of humor by all that knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan of 52 years; one of five siblings, Sharon of Crown Point, Ind.; children Celeste of Goodyear, Ariz., Mark (Armida) of Dewey, Ariz., Alan (Michael) of Alexandria, Va., and Marilyn of Glendale, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird in Peoria. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 24, 2010, at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix, followed by Christian burial service at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Road in Avondale.
