The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/02/2007 Dorothy Berka Lein-Foran died at her home, surrounded by her family, in Scottsdale Nov. 23, 2006. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis. Jan. 13, 1921, the second youngest of seven children, born to Anthony and Valerie Berka who immigrated as children to the United States from Poland. She was married to Leonard Lein for 34 years and raised two children. During those years, she also volunteered at the Milwaukee County Hospital, which eventually lead to a career in nursing. After the death of her first husband, she moved to Scottsdale, meeting and marrying, John Foran, a childhood classmate from Milwaukee. The second half of her life was spent in the beauty of the White Mountains where she continued her charity work by helping start St. Vincent De Paul. She was kind, spiritual, gentle, funny, outspoken and above all generous. Her family and friends will miss her A special thanks to all her friends from St. Vincent De Paul, for having a mass said in her honor. The friendship she received helped her through many difficult times. She is survived by her second husband, John Foran; daughter, Susan; son-in-law, Robert; granddaughter, Stefanie Steinberg; son, Robert Lein; sister, Grace Motl; along with nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Family services to be held at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Milwaukee.
