Eileen I. Langley was born March 29, 1924, to Iver and Flora Gorset in Spring Valley just outside Troy, Idaho. The family moved to Troy where they lived until Iver suddenly passed away in 1932. Eileen, along with her brothers, Marvin and Doug, her sisters, Elsie and Margaret, and Flora then moved to Lewiston, Idaho.
After high school, while working at the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce, Eileen met Gard Langley. They were married Nov. 3, 1946, and moved to Boise, Idaho. Eileen worked in the state capitol and Gard was an airline pilot. In 1948 they returned to Lewiston where their daughter, Sharon was born and within a year settled in Moscow, Idaho.
Eileen was an elementary school secretary at both Russell and Lena Whitmore Elementary Schools for 32 years. She had a love of bridge and began making lifelong friends. She also enjoyed golf, quilting, crafts, gardening and the Oregon Coast.
Upon retirement, Eileen and Gard moved to Lake Havasu City. Through bridge and golf Eileen developed more wonderful friendships.
Gard passed away in January of 2005. In July 2007 Eileen moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho to be near her daughter. She lived at Lincoln Court and in a very short time found a bridge foursome. Once again she made many new great friends. She loved the phrase, two’s company, three’s a crowd and four’s a bridge game.
Mom touched the heart of many people. She was caring, thoughtful and supportive to everyone. Mom was always there when you needed her.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Doug) James, granddaughters, Dr. Codi James, of Seattle, Wash. and Brandi James, of Bend, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews who kept in touch with her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters.
A celebration of life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Lewiston, Idaho at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Idaho Make A Wish Foundation or a favorite charity. Our family greatly appreciates the loving care from the staff and residents of Lincoln Court, Creekside Hospice and Qualicare Home Care. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
