HANSON, Keith Raymond


Keith Raymond Hanson 6/1923 - 8/3/2010 Keith Hanson born to the late Raymond and Lola Hanson in Flint, Michigan, June 1923. At age 17 during his senior year in Lansing, MI he left Eastern High School and joined the Navy. Attended Electrician Mates "A" School and served aboard the USS Hornet CV-8 in the Battle of Midway and swam through shark infested waters when Hornet was sunk during the Battle of Santa Cruz, to be picked up by Destroyer USS Morris. Served the rest of war aboard USS Lexington CV-16, transferring to Bremerton, WA in 1945. He married Helen Irene Spaulding on July 3, 1945, in Vancouver, WA, and moved back to Michigan. He worked as a line man for Michigan Power. In 1951 they moved to Tucson and he worked as an electrician at San Manuel and then as Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Tucson for 23 years. He served ten years as the President of the board for southwest chapter of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. In retirement he loved his years in Pinetop with Helen playing golf and fishing, won Pinetop Lakes Country Club championship. He shot four hole in ones and served on the board as President. The Sunshine Tournament at Pinetop Lakes has been named in his honor. Thanks to Pinetop Lakes Members and friends. Survived by his children: Raymond (Amy McClure) Hanson, Robert (Susan) Hanson, Cheryl (Bret) Haggard, all of Tucson and ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Marjorie Duling and Marion (Mitch) Bereznoff. Devoted Husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great- grandfather, friend and golf companion, he will be dearly missed. Keith died surrounded by family and friends at Casa de la Luz. Our family sends our deepest thanks to those who tended to our father during his final days. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Holy Way Presbyterian Church, 4221 West Ajo Way, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Holy Way Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE CREMATION & BURIAL.
