Harold James Snelgrove Jr., 81, passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, in Lake Havasu City. He was born Aug. 31, 1926, to Harold Sr. and Frances (Harris) Snelgrove in Fredonia, N.Y.
Harold served proudly under the direction of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. In 1963, he received his master’s degree in English from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif.
Shortly following that, he joined the University of Oregon for doctoral studies in community college administration and curriculum, completing all the work except his dissertation. Harold spent eight years teaching English at Eureka High School and then 37 years at College of the Redwoods, both in Eureka, Calif.
Harold loved to travel and was very devoted to his family.
He leaves behind his son, Andrew Snelgrove, of Scotts Valley, Calif.; brother, Jack Snelgrove; sisters, Ruth Johnson, Grace Tatham and Jean Wight, all of Lake Havasu City; and two grandchildren, Devon and Derryn.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m., at Stonebridge Christian Fellowship. Pastor Richard Tatham will officiate. Graveside services will take place Sept.2, at 12:45 p.m., at Riverside National Cemetery.
