Funeral services for Adam Jackson Dowdy, longtime county resident, were held here yesterday afternoon from the Memorial Chapel of the Clineknbeard-Van Marter Mortuary. Mr. Dowdy died in Mohave General Hospital Monday.
He was born on November 21, 1881 in Franklin, Texas to Robert Lee and Sarah Payne Dowdy, one of six children of the marriage.
In 1907 he was marred to Beaulah Star Simmons and to the union was born nine children. His wife preceded him in death in 1924.
After rearing his family he moved to Kingman in 1942 and in 1952 he was married to Gertrude Wilkerson, who survives him.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Eagles Lodges and the Baptist Church. He was a retired Bureau of Reclamation service worker.
The Odd Fellows officiated at the services yesterday and at teh interment which followed in the Mountain View Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow and six children: Cecil Ray of Forth Worth; A. J. Dowdy Jr., formery of Kingman but now living in Phoenix, Raymond Eugene of San Antonio, Vivian Maurene of Houston, John Dezell with the Air Force in Germany and Beaulah Star of Farmington, New Mexico.
Fifteen grandchildren also survive.
