GAGLIARDI, Rocco John


Today's News-Herald Published Wednesday, September 3, 2008 11:47 AM MST Rocco John Gagliardi, 78, passed away July 26, 2008, in Scottsdale. He was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Dominick and Antoinette (Rinaldi) Gagliardi. Rocco and his wife, Judy, moved from Carlsbad, Calif., to Lake Havasu City in 1991 and have resided here for the past 17 years. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy with 10 years active service, which included service in Korea, and retired with the rank of Chief from the U.S. Navy Reserves. He spent 17 years living and working in Japan, primarily with MSTSFE in Yokohama. He moved to San Diego, Calif., in July 1970, and held the position as head of labor and employee relations department, U.S. Naval station, 32nd Street, until his retirement. In his retirement years he enjoyed playing golf, reading, doing crossword puzzles and spending time on the computer. He especially loved sitting outside Safeway and Basha’s with his best pal and favorite dog, Rocky. Rocco is survived by his wife, Judy Gagliardi, of Lake Havasu City; four sons, Anthony (Kim) Gagliardi, of Arizona, Joseph (Eileen) Gagliardi, of Washington, Dante (Jenny) Gagliardi, of California, and Frank Gagliardi, of California; one daughter, Shasha (Roger) Walker, of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; brother, Pat (Lena) Gagliardi, of New York; sister-in-law, Dolly Gagliardi, of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dominick. A memorial service will be held on Sept. 19, at 10 a.m., at Fort Rosecrans in Pt. Loma, California.
