Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Tuesday, August 17, 2010 >Nov. 10, 1934 — July 25, 2010< Robert Warren Gaddis, 75, passed away July 25 at his home in Lake Havasu City, after a seven-month battle with cancer. A native Arizonan, born in Flagstaff to Verl and Joseph M. Gaddis, of Williams, Ariz., he resided in Williams, graduated from Williams High School Class of 1954, joined the U.S. Navy and served four years as a radar man aboard a destroyer. Upon his honorable discharge in 1958, he attended Arizona State University - Tempe. Married in Plainfield, N.J., in August 1963, Bob brought his bride to live in Phoenix until their retirements in 1992. Bob was employed with the state of Arizona, Blind Services for 20 years. Upon retirement, their motor home became their residence. They traveled for the next seven years, touring the United States including Alaska, Canada and Mexico. In 2002, they settled in Lake Havasu City and became members of the Elks Yacht Club. Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth; son, Michael J. Gaddis and daughter-in-law Jennifer Gaddis, of Phoenix; daughter, Robyn E. Kleinschmidt, son-in-law, Neal Kleinschmidt and granddaughters, Aurora and Sedona Kleinschmidt, of Melbourne, Fla.; brothers, Don Gaddis, of Phoenix, Bill Weigel, of Lake City, Pa., Danny Gaddis, of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; and sister, Jody Davis, of Bishop, Calif. Bob chose to donate his body to ScienceCare in the hope that it will benefit research in finding a cure for cancer. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Havasu at 365 S. Lake Havasu Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. A memorial service will be Sept. 25 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2890 SR179, Sedona, Ariz., at 11 a.m.
