The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Wednesday, August 18, 2010 The family of James Matthew Burns sadly announces his passing into eternal life on Monday, Aug. 6. James was born June 15, 1933 in Bridgeport, Conn., to parents James Joseph Burns and Ruth Eleanor (Palmer) Burns. James is preceded in death by both his parents and brothers Raymond Francis and Donald William. He is survived by sisters Beverly, Patricia, Paula, and Rosemary. Also surviving him are many nieces and nephews. James was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in May 1962 at St. Augustine’s Cathedral in Bridgeport, Conn. He served the Diocese of Gallup. He retired in 1993 and made his home in Wickenburg. There will be a memorial Mass to celebrate the life of James on Saturday, Oct. 9. The Mass will be at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Joachim and St. Ann in Youngtown, Ariz. The Holy Rosary will precede the Mass at 9:30 a.m.
