Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, Aug 18th, 2010 Rueben Garcia Nunez was born on March 21, 1954, in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Bisbee. A veteran of the U.S. Navy Rueben served his country in Vietnam from May 1971 to January 1973. Rueben worked for the Simpson Door Company in McCleary, Washington from 1983 until his retirement in 2005. In his retirement years, Rueben was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of building and repairing guitars. Rueben was an avid musician, guitar builder, and master woodworker. Rueben loved to sing and perform music for his family, friends, and strangers (who weren’t strangers for long) alike. Rueben was a believer in Christ and his form of worship and God given gift was music. Rueben devoted his life to his family and loved them all very much. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and cousin who will be missed tremendously. Rueben is survived by his wife, Vickie of Shelton, Washington; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell (Teresa) Nunez of McCleary, Washington, Rueben Nunez of Olympia, Washington, and Mitchell (Megan) Smith of Nampa, Idaho; daughters, Jenny Smith and Lynn White both of Shelton, Washington; mother, Josie Nunez of McCleary, Washington; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica Nunez of Globe, Arizona, Barbara (Jerry) Morton of McCleary, Washington, Christina (Javier) Verdugo of Moreno Valley, California, and Terri (Rick) Warner of McCleary, Washington; three grandchildren, Gracie, Rosie, and Gabriel, along with many special nieces and nephews. Rueben was preceded in death by his father, Ramon Nunez. A celebration of Rueben’s life was held on July 31 at his family’s home.
