BOUGHTON, John Brooks

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, August 03, 2010 John Brooks Boughton of Chino Valley, Ariz., went to be with our Lord on July 26, 2010. He passed away peacefully and with dignity while in the loving arms of his adoring wife, Virginia, with family and friends at his side. He was at the Family Hospice Care facility. John, who was 80, was born in Bay City, Mich., on Aug. 29, 1929. While attending high school, he met Virginia Bogart, who would become his sweetheart and wife for 61 years. John spent his life devoted to Virginia, and they began a family that would include three sons, John F., Dale John and Bruce John. The family moved from Michigan to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1959. John was a highly skilled tool and die maker working for Motorola for 30 years. After retirement, John and his wife moved to Prescott and then to Chino Valley, Ariz., where he stayed active in his church and community for many years. John was an inspiration to his sons during his entire life and provided them with an example they would be proud to follow. He was the most kind, honest, thoughtful and giving, gentle person ever. John is survived by the love of his life, Virginia; his sons, John and his wife, Linda; Dale John and his wife, Anne; and Bruce John; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his extended family at St. Luke's Episcopal Church and all who knew him. John is preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Helen Boughton; and his sisters, Patricia Patlak, Jean Turner and Bette Sporman. A celebration of John's life will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Aug. 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation in John's name to either St. Luke's Episcopal Church or Hospice Family Care. Chino Valley Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. To sign Mr. Boughton's guestbook and share memories, visit heritagefuneralchapels.com. Information provided by survivors.
