August E. "Augie" Vaglio, 73, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., passed away on Aug. 1, 2010, in Prescott with family surrounding him. He was born on March 29, 1937, in Humboldt, Ariz., to Ernest P. and Maria (Villarrell) Vaglio.
Augie graduated from Prescott High School and then went directly into the U.S. Army.
He made a career in the automotive business. He was an auto-body repairman for 12 years and an auto parts salesman for 37 years.
With his eye for detail and his vast knowledge of automobiles, it was rare when he needed to consult the manufacturers' manuals when helping the customers.
He loved to create and build things with his hands - he had an engineer's mind. His dream was to build Indy race cars. Augie was also keenly interested in the Native American culture and history; however, car racing was his passion.
Augie had a way with people that drew them to him. He was always willing to help those around him. He was extremely proud of his family. It was an honor to have known and loved Augie. He will always be remembered.
Augie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Vaglio.
He is survived by his children: Anthony (Kerry) Vaglio, Leslie (Robert) Booker, James Vaglio, Jeff (Christina) Vaglio, Paul Vaglio and Chris Vaglio; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister.
A private family service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon St., Suite 100, Prescott, AZ 86301, in Augie's name.
Please visit www.hamptonfuneralhome.com to sign Augie's guestbook. Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
