The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ December 14, 2007 Rumie Baca, 72, lifelong resident of Springerville, died Dec. 10, 2007, at her home in Springerville. She was born July 23, 1935, in Valencia, N.M., to Eligio and Celsa Romero. Rumie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to music, her church (St. Peter's Catholic Church), and, most of all, her grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing and scrapbooking her photos. She is survived by her husband, Pat Baca Jr.; children Leroy Baca of Springerville, Jim (Sue) Baca of Atascadero, Calif., Diane (Ron) Arnold of Eagar, Mark Baca of Springerville, Therese (Leon) Hinshaw of Springerville, Lainie (Justin) Flowers of Pinetop, Karen (Brandon) Bell of Eagar, Tracy Baca of Springerville and Eric Baca of Springerville; her mother, Celsa; brothers Alvin and Andy Romero; sisters Suzie Birner, Betty Beltran and Mary Romero; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Rumie was preceded in death by her father, Eligio Romero; brothers Lee Romero, Johny Romero and Pat Romero; grandparents David and Eufrasia Chavez and Andres and Rumaldita Romero. A rosary will be held Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Springerville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m., also at St. Peter's Church. Interment will follow at the Springerville Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled the arrangements.
