Sandra LeGail "Sandee" Aulston died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 57. Sandee was born March 9, 1950, in Bakersfield, Calif., to LeVoy Stamback and Betty Dupree.
She married Jonathan G. "Smokey" Aulston Nov. 22, 1969, at her grandmother Della's house in Arriola, Colo. Sandee received training as an E.M.T. In her free time she enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, waterskiing and playing softball. Sandee was also a talented painter and she loved taking care of the children in her neighborhood.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Smokey Aulston of Page; her mother and stepfather, Betty and Johnny Papoff of Arriola, children Monique Firestone (Steven) of Mancos, Colo., and Darin Aulston (Becky) Page; her grandchildren, Laurie, Nick, Courtney and Ashley; and her siblings, Cheryl Johnson of Cortez, Colo., Rick Papoff (Beverly) of Arriola, Colo., and Teresa Stamback of Kelseyville, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her father and her grandmother, Della Young.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at the Lifeway Baptist Church in Cortez, Colo. Pastor Rick Gregory will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
