John Elias Bedway, 71, completed his journey in life Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007. He was born Nov. 21, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio.
John worked for 36 years with the Salt River Project as a heavy equipment operator. In 1979 he moved to Concho and retired as the coal yard foreman for the Coronado Generating Station in St. Johns.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his buddies at Roosevelt Lake. Some of John's memorable accomplishments included being scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 562 in Phoenix and promoting 15 young men to the rank of Eagle Scouts. He was also the youngest organizer of the St. Vincent DePaul Charity Dining Room in 1952 in Phoenix as well.
John leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Carol; son John (Lynnda); daughters Kathy (Stanley) and Theresa; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
His son, Tom, and daughter, Bobbie, preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the San Rafael Catholic Church in Concho with a rosary at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the church.
