Hope Jorgenson Carey, age 56, succumbed to cancer Monday, Aug. 9, 2010. Hope spent her childhood on a farm in Minnesota, and that warm, caring farm girl, with smiling eyes became a caring, giving friend to all who knew her.
Hope's faithful cheery notes and cards, home-baked treats, and helping hands will be cherished memories to the many who received them. In addition to helping others, Hope enjoyed long walks in the woods near her Prescott home with her companions, her dogs, by her side.
Until his death in May 1997, Hope was a loving companion and helper for her husband, Mike. She loved working alongside Mike in his machine shop, Carey Industries, and took great pride in the delicate, minute instruments tooled in their shop, which eventually would become space-bound.
Hope is survived by two sisters, Heather Jorgenson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Holly Young of Wadena, Minn.; sister-in-law Lois Boerboom; nephew Devin Boerboom of Minnesota; a stepdaughter, Shannon Dodd, her husband, Michael and two granddaughters of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Mike Ventimiglia of Jupiter, Fla.
Private services remembering Hope took place near her Prescott home. Cards may be sent to Heather Jorgenson, 2120 E. Bluefield, Phoenix, AZ 85022, and memorials in Hope's honor may be sent to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Valley.
