MALKIN, David Smith

David Smith Malkin went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 7, 2010. Dave was born July 13, 1935 in Brookfield, Illinois, to Matthew Malkin and Margaret Graham Malkin. Dave spent most of his childhood in Brookfield and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1951 and graduated from Tucson High School in 1953. He married Jeanette Greer (daughter of Tucson High football coach Jason "Red" Greer) that same year. In 1955 they moved to Southern California to raise their two sons and start his own landscape business until 1990. In the mid-1960s, Dave was involved in Christian Businessman's Committee, Campus Crusade for Christ, Full Gospel Businessman's Fellowship and Businessman's Fellowship. He started a Christian street ministry called Action Life during the Jesus Movement of the late-1960s. He traveled to many parts of the world teaching people how to share the love of Christ with others. In his later years, Dave and Jan returned to Tucson and he participated in Senior Olympics at the local, state and national levels. He spent much of his time attending many of his grandchildren's events including athletic, singing, dancing and graduation affairs. He was an avid golfer, swimmer, bicycler and runner. Dave is survived by his high school sweetheart, Jeanette (Jan) Greer of 57 years; his two sons, two daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; son, Rick (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Anna (James); great-granddaughter, Caitlyn; Natalie (Eric); great-grandsons, Graham, Rowan, Joseph (Vanessa), Caroline, Lillian, Gabrielle and Matthew; son, Randy (Connie); grandsons, Kyle, Joel, Dana, Cory and Bret. Visitation will be Sunday, July 18, 2010 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Graveside Service and "A Celebration of Testimonies" Service has been scheduled for Monday, July 19, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. All services will be held at EAST LAWN MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of David Malkin to the UAF - Arizona Cancer Center, Mantle Cell Lymphoma Program - 1515 N.
