MONTEVERDE, Gustavo (Achie)

Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, Aug 25th, 2010 Gustavo “Achie” Monteverde, Age 82, passed away on Aug. 14, 2010. Achie was born on May 4, 1928 in Superior, Arizona. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, and was a Golden Glove boxer. In his early years, Achie worked at the Magma underground mine in Superior, Arizona and later worked construction in Globe for the late Nelson Trevillyan. He is survived by his three daughters, Patsy Martinez of Globe, Angie Avila of Mesa, Arizona, Rosemary Goar of Claypool, and son Gustavo Monteverde, Jr. of Mesa. He is preceded in death by his mother, Matilda Cervantes; two brothers, Ralph and Ernesto Cervantes; and two sisters, Nellie Orzco and Clotilde Herrera. Interment will be in Parlier, California.
