The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ November 13, 2007 Douglas Ralph Sanders, 75, of Show Low died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at his home. Douglas was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the son of Ralph and Ruth (Campbell) Sanders. He was raised and attended school in Tucson, graduating from Amphitheater High School in 1950. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1955 with a bachelor of engineering degree. He married Muriel Haskell July 3, 1954, in Tucson. He worked in the aerospace and computer industries for many years. He worked for Ping Golf Clubs for 18 years, retiring in 1990. He lived in Show Low in the summer and Hawaii in the winter. He enjoyed flying and was flying before he had his driver's license. He was a member of Shepherd of the Mountain Lutheran Church and the Experimental Aircraft Association. Douglas is survived by his wife, Muriel; four daughters, Leann (Rick) Fields of Big Pine, Calif., Brenda (Brian) Luna of Las Vegas, Nev., Debra (Robert) Buehring of New Albany, Ind., and Susan Sanders (Anthony Pagliassotto) of Lompoc, Calif.; two brothers, Roger and Gerald Sanders, both of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren, Scott, Kristin and Jerrod Williams of Orange County, Calif., John Maland of Las Vegas, Nev., Bradley Buehring of Louisville, Ky., and Jeffrey Buehring, serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq; great-granddaughter Destiny Maland of Las Vegas, Nev., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at Shepherd of the Mountain Lutheran Church, 2035 S. Penrod Lane in Pinetop. A Celebration of Life service will also be held in Phoenix at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Shepherd of the Mountain Lutheran Church.
