GOMES, Anne Marie (Penny)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ November 16, 2007 Anne Marie "Penny" Gomes died Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, due to complications from bypass surgery. She was born in Revere, Mass., on Dec 7, 1948, to A.E. "Bud" Gomes and Evelyn Gattinger Gomes. She grew up in Florence and attended Florence High School. She worked for Pinal County and Department of Economic Security before retiring and moving permanently to Show Low. She was a wonderful friend, sister, daughter and companion. She never met a stranger and treated everyone she met like they were family. She loved to cook and animals, especially her dog "George" and cat "Rufus." She will be extremely missed. For many years she was involved in the Junior Parada, the LERA rodeos and the Liars Club Golf Tournaments in Pinetop, just to name a few. She is survived by her companion of 18 years, Steve Olson; her big sis, Carole Gomes; brother Mark Gomes; niece Tara Harman; nephew Mark Gomes; great-niece Addie; and great-nephews Colton and Conor. Donations can be made to any Humane Society in her memory. That would be something she would encourage. Upon her wishes, there will be no services.
